RUN INNOVATION- UNDER ARMOUR

Design Manager Under Armour.

Design leadership across thermal knit innovation, function-first aesthetics, and cross-functional collaboration.

As Design Manager for Under Armour’s Run team, I led the IntelliKnit project for FW19—a product platform focused on thermal performance, breathability, and seamless functionality. This innovation aimed to elevate cold-weather running gear through cutting-edge knit construction, form-fitting silhouettes, and dynamic color effects.

Working with the Materials Team and the Lighthouse Innovation Lab, we prototyped and tested yarns that could manage heat, moisture, and movement in real-world winter conditions. I led the design vision while working side-by-side with engineers and developers to ensure aesthetic appeal matched technical performance.

Thermo-Mapped Knit Construction
Engineered warmth in high-exposure zones and mesh in heat zones for breathability.

  1. Balaclava-Style Hood
Breathable mesh construction offering protection and performance fit.

  2. Integrated Thumbholes
Seamlessly knit for function and style—enhancing thermal efficiency.

  3. Color Reveal Knit Effects
Multi-layer yarn designs that shift color tone through motion.

The IntelliKnit collection debuted with standout products like the UA IntelliKnit Balaclava Hoodie, redefining expectations for winter performance apparel. Its success validated our strategy to merge thermoregulation, knit engineering, and fashion-forward aesthetics—making function feel effortless.

  • Led full product strategy and knit development for Run category.

  • Directed silhouette evolution for cold-weather use cases.

  • Partnered with innovation and materials teams on textile and yarn testing.
